It seemed like a normal enough day. You got up, got dressed, and even had a good breakfast though you usually tended to skip. You looked at yourself in the mirror, hoping no one would notice the dark bags underneath your eyes at the meeting. You hadn't been sleeping well because everyone kept calling you at odd hours of the night. Your boss was making you enter an alliance with Russia, so naturally, all the other countries worried. You didn't though. Russia just seemed like a big teddy bear, soft and cuddly. However, you when you got into your car, you found a note on your steering wheel.

____________ go to the park.

You frowned. You had to go to the meeting. But who sent the letter? There wasn't even a name on it, but you knew it was for you. But how did the note giver get into your car? That was an even more terrifying thought. You checked the locks, and the outside of the car, no signs of forced entry, so how did they get in? You shook your head. There was no way you were going to go to the park if you didn't even know who it was who was asking this of you. You sighed in frustration. It was probably America again. He liked messing with you.

You turned the car on, preparing to pull out of your driveway when you realized it was far too bright out so you needed your sunglasses. Sighing in exasperation you pulled open the compartment where your glasses normally were. You found another note on top of your glasses. Whoever wanted you to go to the park was dead serious about it. You picked it up, also taking out your glasses as well. There was no specific time on the notes. So you could always go after the meeting… But then that person would be waiting.

Please, ____________.

It was the same writing as the first note. Your resolve was waning. What if it were important that you go to the park? Did it really matter that you missed one tiny meeting? Nothing ever got done anyways. America was supposed to have the floor today, so they would have to listen to him blather about heroes and aliens. If America was talking, then England would be yelling, which meant France would be trying to bad touch England, and then America would step in to stop France while China sighed about how immature western nations were as Japan drew manga while Germany tried to restore order and Italy either blathered on about pasta or took a siesta. It was worse when the other nations were involved, and they would be.

You were so skipping the meeting.

You walked towards the gates of the park, finding another note, this one addressed to you, simply waiting so you wondered if the person who left the notes wasn't nearby to make sure that no one else took the note before you could get to it. They could be watching you right now and you wouldn't even know it. You frowned deeply. You walked over to it. This game was interesting enough. Someone wanted to meet you, terribly. You took the note off the gate, ignoring the looks people were giving you as they too walked through the gates. You looked around, perhaps trying to find the owner of the note, but there was no one around.

______________, turn around.

"Turn around…?"

You slowly did as the note told you, though you were prepared for the worst. What if it were France trying to catch you alone? Or Prussia who was continually trying to embarrass you? To your surprise, Russia stood there, a shy smile on his face. He had something behind your back. Was it his pipe? Was he going to attack you in broad daylight? With witnesses no less? Instead, he slowly brought his hand out from behind his back. He had a single sunflower in his hand. He offered it to you. Hesitantly, you took the flower from him, uncertain of what to do now.

"Rus-"

"Ivan, da?"

"Huh?"

"It's my name…"

You stare at him blankly. Nations who were close to one another, like say for example America and England knew one another's human names. It was an honor and a privilege to know another's human name, let alone be granted the usage of said name. You felt the guilt as you looked at ground in shame. It was something personal to any nation of the world, that only a few people had the opportunity to exploit. You took that opportunity for granted and hurt the larger man in the process because you felt you had no right to call him by his human name.

"I… thank you Ivan," you said softly.

"Of course, __________."

He offered you his hand. You stared at for a moment before you nodded in agreement. He was being very gentlemanly. England would be furious, probably pointing out to America that he could not be the same as Russia or as England. But then there would be an argument about who was better – the hero or the gentleman. In your book it was the Russian. At least he didn't cause stupid arguments. Besides, you got along rather well with Russia, better than you did with a lot of the other nations and that was saying something.

"Let's go for a walk."

You couldn't deny him, not when he had already done so much for you, though it still concerned you that he broke into your car to leave those notes, but he was also getting you out of the meeting for the day. So you took his hand, letting him lead you into the park. People stared at you oddly. It was a very hot day, yet Ivan still wore his large jacket and his obligatory scarf. Somehow the strange looks angered you. A dark look crossed your face, scaring off the few who dared to stare at him as if he were some sort of circus performer.

"It's such a nice day, isn't it?" you asked, "I'm glad you asked me here! It's much better than listening to America on some McDonalds fueled rant again…"

Ivan looked at you in surprise. He hadn't expected you to actually try to converse with him. He looked tense. Was Belarus stalking him again? Was he using you as an excuse to get away from her? That would put you in danger if it were the case because she didn't like sharing, especially when it came to her brother. In her mind, Russia was hers and hers alone. Which was slightly creepy because they were siblings and Russia was a full grown ma- er… nation and he could take care of himself. He could decide whether or not to be in a relationship and it wasn't limited to just her.

"D-Da…"

"Is something wrong?" you asked.

"Nyet… I asked you here… because…"

You waited patiently. This was apparently difficult for him to discuss. Did it have something to do with the other nations? Did they say something to make him reconsider the alliance with you? As far as you knew the other countries liked you. They wouldn't go and try to hurt your economy would they? An alliance with Russia would help you and your people. Suddenly a sunflower was thrust beneath your nose. You blinked in surprise as the flower bopped you in the face. Russia wasn't even looking at you.

"My boss told me to thank you for agreeing to be in the alliance with me…" Russia said, "And I wanted to thank you for… being my friend…"

You smiled and took the flowers from him. This was the start of a beautiful alliance.
Since I haven't done one for Russia, I thought, hey, might as well. I don't normally write for him, so I think he might be out of character... Oh dear, I do hate that...
